A fairly small bottom-dwelling fish, resembling a large tadpole in general appearance. The body is soft, eyes protruding and a distinctive black spot on the first dorsal fin.
Color
Yellowish gray, with lateral blotches and a large black spot on the first dorsal fin. Breeding males turn inky black.
Average Size
Female 19 cm, male 25 cm/up to 0.8 kg.
Age
3-4 years old.
