Description
The Garfish is a needle fish with a long, slender body and a pointy beak-like mouth and nose. The jaw teeth are comparatively large and widely spaced. Its pelvic fins are located in a posterior position as are its dorsal and anal fins. They are positioned for posterior flexing of the body.

Habitat
A migratory fish that lives close to the surface down to about 20 m. Garfish are pelagic and live in schools. In the fall, they independently move to deeper water in the Atlantic Ocean.
